Casa Puesta del Sol
Casa Puesta Del Sol is a new custom built Spanish Colonial style home perched high on a hill top in Ojo De Aqua surrounded by pastel color villas which setting some say is reminiscent of Florence, Italy. The casa accommodates up to 8 persons and has 3 baths. There are sweeping panoramic views of the city from daybreak to sunset into star studded evening skies hovering over flickering city lights. Views include the Parroquia, Parque Juarez, with spectacular views of the Sierra Madre Mountains; nearly every window in the home has beautiful scenery to enhance the enjoyment of your visit! Yet, the location is near the Centro, Art Institute and everything else San Miquel has to offer.
This special home has an “old” world feel but boasts all modern conveniences including: water purification system, radiant heat, 4 gas fireplaces (one on rooftop), custom kitchen w/oak cabinets and state of the art GE Profile stainless steel appliances, convection oven w/warmer drawer, wine captain, 6 burner gas cook top w/griddle, dishwasher, side by side refrig/freezer w/ice and water in the door and a Saeco Cappuccino and Espresso machine, There is a large double copper sink w/pull out water/spray faucet. For security an intercom system has been installed near front door w/2 phones one up and downstairs. The house has a local telephone and Vonage, cable TV and wireless internet access. You may want to bring your laptop. There is off street parking w/remote operated double doors.
The casa is tastefully decorated w/faux painted walls of various colors and textures and interesting details including soaring ceilings ranging from Boveda to tile w/wood beamed and woven bamboo ceilings w/recessed lighting w/dimmer controls for atmosphere. There are two custom fountains and numerous plantings and gardens throughout the entrance and rear of the home and up onto the second floor balcony. There are two built in murals which were hand painted, fired and installed. The outside literally comes into the villa through triple double atrium doors, a giant atrium entrance way w/fountain and huge palm tree and other large windows and skylights well placed throughout the villa. There is a large rooftop terrace with conversation area seating as well as dining area for 8 and 3 lounge chairs to “soak” up the pleasant San Miguel sun! The furniture, lamps, chandeliers, bedding, drapes and other window coverings have all been personally chosen and custom made locally. Some of the artwork and all of the photography is original and depict beautiful local scenery.
There are two master bedroom suites on the second floor of the home which have expansive views and including the rear garden and fountain. The king size beds have pillow top mattresses, rooms have soaring ceilings (one w/boveda) and cable TV/DVD players. There are ceiling fans w/lighting in each bedroom. The bathrooms are custom tiled and have artistic and interesting features including “waterfall” shower, faux clouds on ceiling and double hand painted sinks. There are more than ample built in closets in both bedrooms.
Between the two bedrooms there is a “salon” area w/double pull out couch, LCD TV and DVD player. There is an ipod docking station connected to the stereo TV so you can listen to all your favorite music also, Vonage phone and wireless router. This is a perfect area for an additional couple or children.
The villa is accessed through double antique doors accented from above by a stained glass “sunset” designed arc. The doors enter into the foyer that is a garden accented by a fountain and soaring 30’atrium which allows sunlight to stream in for the numerous plantings including a 20’ palm tree. The first floor bath is to the right and features a step in shower fully custom tiled w/matching sink. This serves the “studio” bedroom located on the first floor as well as any house guests. The “studio” is accessed through double arched doors which can be closed for privacy and used as a third bedroom or left “open” in order to serve as a media room for the first floor. This is ideal for older or physically challenged persons or children. The room has built in closets and cable TV with a DVD player.
The large living room centers around a custom built stone gas fireplace w/leather couch and matching lounge chair seating. There are numerous large stone arches that from room to room affording an “open airy” feeling. The round dining table has seating for 8 persons and rear wall has 3 sets of double atrium doors with sidelights and transoms literally bringing the outside garden and fountain inside the home. One set of atrium doors open to a bistro table shaded by a market umbrella with seating for 6 which allows for extra dinner guests. Or enjoy your coffee or margarita to the sound of the cascading fountain in the garden which include the fragrances of gardenia, lavender and jasmine the aroma circulate through the open windows of the villa. The oversized kitchen has cabinets and counters on three sides. There is a 6 burner cook top and numerous glass shelves with wine/champagne/margarita and cappuccino cups for morning coffee and entertaining. Off the kitchen through double doors is the washer/dryer and pantry area which leads out to a garden w/custom stone work which also acts as secure carport w/remote double doors to driveway area. There is a gas grill in this area with easy access to the kitchen.
The casa sleeps 4-8 persons comfortably w/guests having a sense of their “own” space.
There is an atrium door on the second floor that leads up well lit steps to large rooftop w/expansive views in all directions. On a cool night you may want to light the gas fire pit located near the cushioned banquette conversation area w/built in seating for up to 12 persons.
